Haddam: Dog License Renewal & 2020 Transfer Station Pass Info

Notice from the Haddam Town Clerk’s Office – COVID-19

Added 5/11/20: The Town Clerk’s office strongly recommends doing the entire process by mail. They will not issue any Transfer Station stickers or dog licenses until June 1, 2020. 2019 Transfer Station stickers are good until June 30, 2020.

Due to these unprecedented times we urge all residents to renew both their dog licenses and transfer station passes by mail. It is the safest and most efficient way to conduct your business and should save everyone considerable time from standing in a long line observing social distancing. Please mail in copies of all required paperwork (ie: car registration, rabies certificate etc.) Your check should be made payable to the Town of Haddam. In previous years as a courtesy our office has called the veterinary’s office for those residents who arrived at town hall without proper paperwork for their dog. Due to current circumstances we are unable to provide that service this year. You can check with us by email or phone prior to your visit and we can check our records to see if your pets’ information is up to date.

We process 2400 transfer station passes per year and license approximately 950 dogs. Most everyone has stood in line at our counter to make a purchase of one or both of these items. Reduced hours can only make the lines longer. Please make every effort to renew by mail, it is definitely the right decision until we can get things as close to back to normal as possible.

Our number 1 dog contest which has proven to be very popular will be held again this year. All dogs licensed in town during the month of June are eligible to win. As an added incentive any dog owners who register by mail will receive two entries to the drawing.

Some residents may have noticed “Town of Sprague” on the back of our dog license reminder postcards. This is a misprint due to a programming error with our printer. Please remit any checks or paperwork to the “Town of Haddam” 30 Field Park Drive, Haddam 06438.  We apologize for any confusion.
