(February 16, 2023) — The regular meeting of the Haddam Board of Selectmen on February 13, 2023 at Town Hall was called to order by First Selectman Robert McGarry at 6:30 pm. Selectmen Kate Anderson and Sean Moriarty were also in attendance.
First Selectman McGarry announced that requests for proposal were issued for environmental remediation and site development of the Rossi Property and are open until March 1, 2023. Remediation of the Scovil Hoe property should be completed in spring 2024. The Federal Aviation Administration has completed its review in favor of a cell tower in Tylerville. Finally, the Board of Selectmen approved the proposed town government operating budget and forwarded it to the Board of Finance. It does not include the capital plan or education budget for Regional School District 17.
Selectman Anderson reported that the Town of East Haddam is working on a grant application for a new pedestrian and bicycle loop. Separately, she made a motion to support the Trip Grant application to continue the sidewalks in Haddam Center from Jail Hill to where it ends at the UConn Extension Center. The grant would cover the work, but not design or engineering. The motion carried unanimously.
Selectman Moriarty made a motion to hire Rebecca Rice as the new Senior/Social Services Director. The motion carried unanimously. He also made a motion to appoint Michael Karam and Kristy Benson to the Economic Development Committee. The motion carried.
The next regular Board of Selectmen meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 13, 2023, at 6:30 pm. The meeting adjourned at 7:18 pm.
