(March 29, 2024) — The state Department of Agriculture has announced that the Connecticut Resource Conservation and Development, based at the UConn Extension Center in Haddam, will receive a $49,999 grant, with funds supporting veteran farms and veterans interested in careers in agriculture.
The grant will aid the Farmer Veteran Coalition in conducting one-on-one consultations with veterans interested in agriculture and those currently working in agriculture.
Stipends will assist twenty veterans in moving forward with registering a farm business and obtaining a Farm Tax Exemption permit. It will also coordinate and provide one-on-one agricultural grant-writing assistance.
