Ahead of Scout Sunday on February 6, 2022 and National Boy Scout Day on February 8, 2022, I wanted to share a few opportunities to commend, encourage, and highlight local BSA Scouts who are pursuing Eagle Scout rankings and making meaningful contributions across communities in Connecticut through their service projects. Even in the midst of the pandemic, Boy Scouts across the country have organized over 5,000 fundraisers on GoFundMe since January 2020 to clean up parks, build fences, plant trees, and complete a variety of other service projects. See ways Scouts are using GoFundMe to improve Connecticut communities below:
Eagle Scout – Local Community Theater Project: Trevor Izzo raised funds to build stage platforms and movable partitions for the Blue Fire Stage Company, a non-profit organization in Haddam that aims to build a collaborative, diverse, and accepting community through the arts and arts education. The garden is located behind the Holy Advent Episcopal Church, and church volunteers are also helping.
