On Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019, the Haddam Killingworth High School Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Coginchaug, after losing 2-0 earlier in the season. HK came out strong, doing a good job of possessing the ball in the first half. The first opportunity came in the first half where HK was unable to find the back of the net. The Cougars were determined not to give up when Kedarjah Lewis scored in the first half giving the advantage to HK right before the half.
In the second half, another penalty kick was awarded to Haddam-Killingworth. This time, HK would not be denied when Morgan Madore scored on the penalty kick. Shortly after that goal, Kedarjah Lewis struck again, giving HK 3 goals. That would not be enough for HK as Leah Sosnowski scored her second goal of the season giving HK a 4-0 win over their conference rivals Coginchaug.
Sophia Torello had a fantastic day in goal, making 11 saves, while Coginchaug goalkeeper Clare DeFlora stopped 6. Haddam-Killingworth is now 4-2-0 and take on Capital Prep in Hartford on Thursday afternoon.
