Girls Lacrosse 2022: HKHS Endures 16-2 Loss to Old Saybrook

Submitted by Janice Calvi-Ruimerman.

The Haddam Killingworth High School Girls Lacrosse Team was sadly defeated by the mighty Old Saybrook Rams on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Despite a valiant effort by defenders Te’a Norman (Sophomore), Kyla Mazzotta (Senior), Peyton Tyler (Sophomore) and Nicole Goosen (Senior), the Rams scored 16 goals. Yumi Imai and Grace Cassidy, both Seniors, were the only scorers for the Cougars with one goal each.

Junior Varsity was a completely different game. The JV Cougars came out with a first blow to the Rams defense as Bridget Battistoni (Sophomore) scored the first of HK’s 5 goals.  Sophomore Aly Campbell scored 2 more, while Junior Brooklyn Bailey and Senior Emily Sorrentino closed the gap, leaving the Cougars behind by one point when the game was called because of injuries on the Old Saybrook team. The JV final score was Rams 6, Cougars 5, but if not for the call of the game, the HK girls were on their way to victory.

Keep it up Cougars, and keep those stick up!!!
