On April 30, 2022, the Haddam Killingworth High School Girls Lacrosse team challenged Valley’s first place record and the Cougars put up quite a fight, only to lose with a final score of 11 – 7. The Cougars defense was tough, with Peyton Tyler, Te’a Norman, Ava Ramino and Captain Kyla Mazzotta holding off Valley and protecting the goal. Rhianna “Rhi” Phipps, with encouraging cheers from the HK Boys team, saved some incredible shots on goal, but Valley’s offense was spot-on with their long passes and field coverage. Despite the Junior Prom the night before, the HK team pushed through Valley’s defenders scoring 7 goals by Captain Grace Cassidy (3), Captain Yumi Imai (1), Audrey Wrinn (1) and Seanna “SeaSea” Ruimerman (2).
