Haddam welcomed a new Resident Trooper last fall, upon Trooper Milardo’s retirement Oct. 1, 2019. Trooper Michael Stanger provides coverage for our town during the evening shift hours of 2:30 p.m. to midnight each day.
Having grown up in town as well as having been a proud graduate of Haddam Killingworth High School in 2008, Trooper Stanger returns to Haddam to serve this community.
Trooper Stanger currently lives in our sister town across the River, East Haddam. After graduating from HKHS, he attended Central Connecticut State University and obtained a B.A. in Criminology. Stanger explains that he was “drawn to this degree due to how competitive the State Police hiring process is.” In June 2014, the Connecticut State Police hired Stanger. During that time, he completed the six-month training at the CSP academy and graduated in December 2014. Trooper Stanger began his career with the CSP at the Troop E Barracks, located in Montville, Conn. After working there for three years, he transferred to Troop F in Westbrook, Conn. October 2017.
According to Stanger, “I was drawn to the state police because that was the police force that we had in the town of Haddam and that is what I grew up with. I was first introduced to them while in D.A.R.E in the sixth grade. I am happy to be back in the town where I grew up and look forward to working with the citizens and contributing to a safe community.”
Haddam welcomes you, Trooper Stanger!
Congratulations & welcome, Trooper Stanger! It is so nice to hear how the D.A.R.E. experience inspired you to serve the public as an adult. Best wishes to you, and thank you for serving!
