#68 Trey Callender forces a fumble while sacking the Panthers quarterback

The Haddam Killingworth High School Varsity Football team was defeated at home last night in their first football game of the season against Cromwell/Portland. The final score was Cromwell/Portland 3, H-K 0. Matthew Pepe’s 25-yard field goal in the third quarter proved the difference in Cromwell/Portland’s victory over Haddam-Killingworth (0-1) in Higganum. The Panthers’ other scoring chance was thwarted when H-K’s Kevin Cavrell caused a fumble at the goal line that was recovered by Alex Riccitelli. The Cougars’ best scoring chance ended when the Panthers (1-0) blocked Cavrell’s 25-yard field goal attempt midway through the fourth quarter. The Cougars’ Dalton Modehn led all rushers with 114 yards on 22 carries.
