(November 29, 2024) — Tony has been a a longtime member at Animal Control, and does not have a home. He is a Great Pyrenees, seven years in age, neutered, and up-to-date with all his vaccines.
This handsome boy will be your gatekeeper and watch your home like a hawk. He loves being outside in the cold, crisp air, but he is not a dog who sleeps outside. He wants to be in the house near you and plunk himself down in a nice, puffy bed for a long night’s nap.
Tony LOVES affection and will always be by your side. He will keep nudging you so that you don’t stop giving him that ear and back scratch. Be ready for it! Treats are another thing Tony loves. He stated on his Christmas list that a case of all his preferred choices were the very first thing listed.
Tony is an incredibly sweet, loving and loyal dog. There are some things that he will require:
- A six-foot, secure, fenced-in yard.
- No children, because he gets so excited and can lunge at them.
- A low-key house without many people coming and going. When visitors pop by, he can get excited; a room where he can spend time by himself would work out great. Maybe put a good movie on to keep him entertained.
- Previous Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) experience
Please be aware that there will be multiple meet-and-greets with the potential adopter as he is LGD and protective by nature. Tony does have a small-breed little friend he lives with at his foster home, so a submissive little dog would be okay. But Tony likes to be the king, you see. He does have some resource-guarding tendencies, so there will be some restrictions to help manage that. Tony really has so much to offer and will make a great dog for someone. Please give him chance.
