Chief!
Poor Chief needs a CT foster family (will also consider foster-to-adopt)
Furry Friends very last rescue of 2020 – on December 31st to be exact – was Chief. They were contacted by a caring staff member of a veterinary practice. An animal control officer had brought Chief in to be euthanized. The staff at the hospital simply could not do that without at least making a last attempt at placing this boy. So they – thankfully – called Furry Friends Rescue!
Chief had lived in a garage prior to ending up at animal control. His owner never came to claim him He was stressed in the shelter and did not “show well” there.
On the trip from the vet’s office to Furry Friends he was very hyper and needed some serious decompression and a very experienced foster /permanent family that has bully breed experience.
HOWEVER ….
Chief has been in veterinary boarding since coming to the rescue, and the staff have gotten to know him well.
They just love this gorgeous boy!
Furry Friends have been told that he is a friend of every human he meets – new people are just friends he hasn’t met yet to him. Although he has not yet been officially tested with other dogs, he is non-reactive when dogs pass by his kennel, or when he is walked by other dogs in kennels.
There is always a meet and greet with all humans and pets in the home, so the rescue would know absolutely at that point if he and other dogs could live happily together. Because he is a young, energetic dog, they would want to place him in a home with a dog of similar size.
Also, he will need a home with older children (13 years old or older). He could very easily bowl over little ones without meaning to do so.
He is an absolute love-bug – all he wants to do is be with his human friends
He also seems to have had at least a bit of training – he sits on command, gives paw, and knows the “stay” command.
He has not seemed at all stressed or anxious since he’s been there.
This is all great news for Chief!
What isn’t such great news is that he’s still in boarding … because Furry Friends has not found a foster home for him yet.
So won’t someone PLEASE help them get him out of a kennel and into a home, by opening your home and heart to him – either temporarily, until he finds a forever home – or even better – foster-to-adopt!
If you are already approved to foster or adopt from the rescue, and can welcome Chief into your home, please message the page or email: furryfriendsct@yahoo.com.
If you would like to have Chief as either a temporary or permanent family member, and haven’t yet applied with them, please do that by filling out an application – https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application
