Eversource Crews Make Significant Progress Restoring Power Following Wednesday’s Fierce Wind and Rain Storm
Power restored to more than 43,000 Connecticut customers
BERLIN, Conn. (October 17, 2019) – Eversource line and tree crews continue working around-the-clock restoring power to thousands of customers impacted by Wednesday’s damaging wind and rain storm. Despite the dangerous winds and challenging conditions, crews have restored power to more than 43,000 homes and businesses since the storm began. As of 1 p.m., the company is working to restore the remaining 35,000 customers without service.
“Despite the high winds we continue to experience and the challenge that presents, our crews are hard at work assessing damage, helping communities clear blocked roads and restoring power,” said Eversource Vice President of Electric Operations in Connecticut Michael Hayhurst. “We recognize how difficult it is to be without electricity. We’re there for our customers when they need us most and are committed to working until everyone affected by this storm has their power restored.”
The energy company urges customers to always stay clear of downed wires and to report them immediately to 9-1-1. They can report an outage online at www.eversource.com, or by calling 800-286-2000. Those who signed up for the company’s two-way texting feature can send a text to report an outage and receive outage updates as they happen.
Eversource also reminds any customers who are without power and using a generator to be sure it’s located well away from their home or business and that they’re using a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician.
