The Essex Steam Train is operating from Eagle Landing State Park, on Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, and Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018 at 12:15 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for a 45 minute ride that is available for local residents, “as a way for them to meet us and see/hear what we are up to in the Haddam/East Haddam area,” according to Rob Bradway, VP of Track & Property. “These rides are in conjunction with the Haddam Swing Bridge Fall Special, where we bring folks from Essex Station up to the Haddams for a 3 1/2 hour ‘shore visit’ where they can dine, shop, and take voyages on the Riverquest. We offer the local train rides while the trainset is laying over in Haddam.” There is a Five Dollar Family Fare for everyone over 5 years old. The train travels to the new end of the track in the Shailerville portion of Haddam. There is also an option for an additional 15 minute ride south of Bridge Road to a “million dollar view” of the river, swing bridge, and opera house.
