(March 22, 2023) — Spring cleaning? Don’t throw out what might be fixed! Come to the Repair Cafe, part of an Earth Day Celebration, on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Killingworth Library from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Items you may bring for repair include:  bikes; clothing (simple mending, patching, hemming); computers; lamps (rewiring); small appliances (no microwaves); small furniture; and toys. We will also have knife, scissor and tool sharpening available. Please do not bring anything with an engine.

Repairs are not guaranteed. Patrons will be responsible for disposing of unrepairable items. (The library will have information for proper disposal or recycling of these items.) No registration is necessary, although there may be some wait time.

Thanks to our wonderful community volunteers who are willing to share their expertise. These indispensable skills can be used to repair items helping to reduce waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and the need for more raw materials for new items.

In 2019, repair cafés worldwide saved 463 tons of waste and prevented the emission of 11,000 tons of carbon dioxide. Repair cafes bring the community together, makes our lives more sustainable, and saves on our disposal costs.

Killingworth Library is located at 301 Route 81 in Killingworth. Phone: 860-663-2000.
