Donations of Music Requested by Solnit Children’s Center

Submitted by Elaine Jackson

(July 19, 2024) — When our youth arrive at the Albert J. Solnit Children’s Center in Middletown, our Rehab Department interviews each youth to determine what they enjoy for hobbies, activities and coping skills. Without fail, each youth responds with “listen to music.”

Our youth are ages 13 to 18, and music is the one thing that they all have in common and use daily to better understand and process their world.

MP3 players, along with speakers to listen, are essential coping skill items for our youth. Having access to music should not be a special privilege. Please consider purchasing a speaker (priced at $14.88) or an MP3 Player (priced at $21.99) and help provide our youth with the most universal coping skill there is. Music.

Due to facility guidelines and restrictions, please contact one of our representatives below for allowable devices.

Suggested items include:

Small, rugged speakers with Bluetooth wireless technology

AGPTEK G02 8GB Clip MP3 Player with FM Shuffle

Portable Music Player with Sweatproof Silicone Case for Sports

$10 Gift Cards- Walmart, Five Below, Dollar Tree

Cornhole boards – Three sets needed

We remain grateful for the community’s continued support as prior donations have brought much joy and happiness to our children and youth during a very difficult time in their young lives.
