Cross Country 2018: Woods Trail Run

On Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 the Haddam Killingworth High School boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Thetford, Vermont to compete in the Woods Trail Run against over 50 teams from Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

The boys team placed 4th overall out of 51 schools as they scored 260 points.  The Cougars were led once again by sophomore Matt Jennings who was the first to cross the line for the team in a time of 17:44 to place 20th overall for the challenging 3.1 mile course.  Junior Christian Uzwiak placed 44th overall in a time of 18:18 and then was followed by senior tri-captain Nate Carlson 58th (18:30), senior tri-captain Seth Freeman 66th (18:36) and freshman Caleb Freeman 78th (18:44) to round out the team scoring.

The girls team also had a good afternoon as they placed 13th overall as a team scoring 393 points.  They were led by senior co-captain Emma Anziano who placed 20th overall in the race in a time of 20:54 for the tough 5,000 meter course.  She was followed by sophomore Meara Bodak 58th (21:57), junior Julia Callis 82nd (22:23), junior Lauren D’Amico 118th (22:43) and freshman Ali Twachtman 148th (23:15).

The teams will next be in action on Wednesday as they travel to Hale Ray High School to compete in the Shoreline Mega Meet to close out their dual meet season.
