Please join Youth & Family Services and the HK Healthy Communities Healthy Kids Coalition for a Community Dinner on Wednesday evening, March 6, from 5:45-8:00 in the Cafeteria at Haddam Killingworth Middle School. Results from a Spring 2018 survey taken by youth in grades 7-12 will be presented that night with a discussion to follow.
Since 2007, the Search Institute Survey on Developmental Assets has been administered six times in HK and nationally to over 5-million youth. Our speaker will share: how youth in our towns are feeling, what they are doing in support of their own health and wellness, what they are doing that is not and tell us how youth perceive their role and their place in our community. According to the Search Institute:
“Today’s young people are strong, diverse, and resilient. They face major personal and social challenges as well as unparalleled opportunities and potential. Regardless of who they are, where they live, or the challenges they face, young people deserve to be heard, understood, and supported in becoming their best selves.”
Youth & Family Services staff and Healthy Community Healthy Kids Coalition members will be there to listen, learn and take notes. Join us as we work, together, to give voice to common goals, hopes and a future where all of our youth can thrive.
All voices: older, middle-aged, young adult and adolescent are welcome and babysitting will be provided for younger children by local teens but please RSVP (by March 1) so we know how much food to buy that night! If you cannot make the meeting but want to learn more reach out via website: www.hkyfs.org or Facebook. Better yet, call the office 860.345.7498 or stop by at our offices in the white building in front of the HKHS. You will always be welcome.
