(October 27, 2023) — The holiday season is just around the corner, and what better way to get into the spirit than attending a performance of The Nutcracker? This beloved holiday tale will be presented by Ballet Theatre Company (BTC) at The Bushnell’s Maxwell M. & Ruth R. Belding Theater.
BTC’s The Nutcracker, choreographed by Artistic Director Stephanie Dattellas, follows the beloved story of a young girl named Clara who goes on an adventure with her magical Nutcracker doll after the rest of the family has gone to sleep for the evening. Though the story is familiar, Dattellas’s version includes a few unique twists and turns that will keep repeat audience members and first-timers alike on the edge of their seats.
Join BTC at The Bushnell on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.; or Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. for our standard performance offerings.
If you have a family member or friend with sensory-sensitivities, or other needs that might prevent attending a traditional theater performance, we encourage you to join us on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. for our special presentation of The Nutcracker: A Sensory-Friendly Ballet. This public performance includes the same fabulous cast and enticing storyline as our other public performances, but offers decreased volume and other adjustments to the theater environment for the comfort of our patrons.
Attendees of the Sensory-Friendly Ballet are encouraged to move from their seats as desired, and permitted to enter and exit the theater as needed. While this performance is intended for those with sensory-sensitivities, we also welcome families with young children experiencing theater for the first time to join as well.
In addition to our public performances, we are also pleased to offer A Children’s Ballet on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets for this abbreviated performance are open only to local school students, offering them the chance to view part of the full production, with a special sneak peek at behind the scenes elements, and the chance to ask our professional dancers questions! Limited seats are available, so we encourage interested teachers to submit bookings as soon as possible. For more information, visit: https://www.dancebtc.org/a-childrens-ballet
Tickets generally sell quickly, so purchasing early is recommended to ensure you have a seat to experience the magic with BTC this December.
