(May 16, 2022) — You don’t have to be a serious birder to recognize the gorgeous Baltimore oriole. Apart from their brilliant orange and black coloring, they tend to show up in small groups and they often chatter loudly, announcing that they’re back in town.
To draw orioles into your backyard, all it takes is a couple of oranges and some grape jelly. This guy kept coming back to an orange half stuck onto a broken branch. He and his friends were also quite happy at a fancier feeder with little cups for jelly and spikes to hold the oranges.
Lure them in and they will likely hang around all summer.
