(July 27, 2023) — The following events and programs will be presented at Brainerd Memorial Library in Haddam during the month of August 2023.
Culinary Book Club/August 9, 2023, 6:30 p.m. In this unique book club we meet to talk about the recipes we’ve brought to the meeting. If you need inspiration for a dish, we have cookbooks to help! Calling all farmers! What is going on in your garden? Our August 9th theme is recipes from the garden. No garden? No worries. Find your local farmers market and check out the fruits or vegetables in season. A requirement of the club is to bring a dish. We’ll meet in the History Room.
Crafting Connection: Mandala Painting on Clay Pots/ August 14, 2023, 5:30 p.m. Come zen out as we create mandala designs on clay pots. A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. “Mandala” is a Sanskrit word that means “circle.” Mandalas generally have one identifiable center point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms. No experience necessary; all you need is a desire to have fun and create art. We will meet on the back lawn of the Library, weather permitting. This is an in-person class. This craft is for ages 16+. Please note that space is limited for this program and registration is required. Link will be available soon on our website. All materials will be supplied by the Library.
Ongoing Events/Programs BML Summer Reading Program for Pre-school through 8th Grade. “Catch the Reading Bug” is an eight-week program that runs through August 20, 2023.

Brainerd Library Knitters/First Tuesday each month 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Community Room
Brainerd Book Club/4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The book choices are rather eclectic, selected from a diversity of genres. Discussion is always friendly and expansive. All are welcome! The library orders books in advance to be checked out as needed.
Plant and Book Sales continue all summer. Stop in to pick up perennials, houseplants, beach reads and beautiful flower arrangements.
