Haddam Business Spotlight: Think Haddam First, Shop Local, Support Our Community

Submitted by Haddam Economic Development Commission

(September 15, 2026) — Haddam First Selectman Sean Donlan is encouraging residents to think local whenever possible, whether they are shopping for goods or looking for services.

“Think Haddam First” is the message Donlan hopes will become part of the town’s everyday approach to shopping and hiring locally. Supporting local businesses helps strengthen our community, our local economy, and the quality of life we all enjoy in Haddam.

One resource that makes it easier to shop locally is the Haddam Online Business Directory. The free, growing directory helps residents discover the many home-based and storefront businesses and services available right here in town.

“Everything you need is right here in Haddam,” said Donlan (photo above, right, with Alden Halfinger of Halfinger Farms, a Haddam Business Directory participant, helping select two mum planters during a recent visit to the farm)

The directory is a convenient way for residents to find local businesses, while also giving Haddam business owners an opportunity to share what they offer. Home-based and storefront businesses are encouraged to add their information, and residents are encouraged to use the directory as a guide when shopping or looking for services.

To explore the directory or list a business, visit the Town of Haddam’s website at www.haddam.org and click on the Community page and then Business Directory.

Choosing to shop and hire locally is a simple way to support our neighbors and help keep our community thriving. With so many wonderful businesses and services right here in Haddam, the next time you need something, think Haddam first! On behalf of all Haddam’s business owners, thank you for your patronage.

For questions about the business directory, contact Stacey Kinney Arroyo at EDC@haddam.org
