Help Keep Killingworth Families Warm This Winter

Submitted by Mercedes Ricciuti, Killingworth Municipal Agent

(August 8, 2026) — Low-income residents of Killingworth are facing a serious heating challenge this winter. Federal funding for programs that help families pay for heating costs continues to be reduced, leaving the State of Connecticut as the only source of funding for the Fuel Assistance program.

The Friendly Fund, supported by generous Killingworth residents, provides additional help to neighbors who are struggling financially. Last year, the Fund was used to supplement fuel assistance payments for eligible residents. This year, however, contributions to the Fund are down—understandably so, as rising costs are putting pressure on everyone. At the same time, the need has never been greater.

A contribution to the Friendly Fund is a direct way to help a Killingworth neighbor stay warm this winter. For residents and local businesses looking for a meaningful holiday gift, supporting the Friendly Fund is an opportunity to make a real difference right here in our community.

Please consider making a holiday contribution to the Friendly Fund. Every donation, large or small, can help. Checks can be made payable to Friendly Fund and sent to: Mercedes Ricciuti, Killingworth Municipal Agent, Friendly Fund, 323 Route 81, Killingworth, CT  06419
