Down the Lane Farm in Killingworth Kicks Off New Season May 9th

(April 24, 2026) — Down the Lane Farm, LLC, is excited to announce the start of its season with a special event on May 9, 2026, featuring educational activities, a refreshed product line up, and an assortment of delicious European sourdough bread from BROT workshop.

Frequently voted one of the best farm shops on the Connecticut Shoreline, Down the Lane Farm is owned and operated by Greg and Maureen Alfiero who have been professional beekeepers since 1993. Over the years, they have nurtured many bee colonies and offer a carefully curated assortment of delicious natural honey and honey-related products to the local community.

Recognizing that honey and bread make a perfect pairing of flavors, Killingworth-based Cottage Bakery, BROT workshop has partnered with the farm to incorporate honey into their artisan sourdough bread recipes, which include rye and wheat varieties.

The May 9th opening event will showcase:

·      A wide assortment of honey, teas, honey spoons, candy, soaps, beeswax candles,
and other handcrafted gifts

·      Tastings and sales of European Sourdough Rye and Wheat breads

·      Informal education sessions on honeybees and the art of making sourdough bread

Down the Lane Farm is located at 18 Reservoir Road in Killingworth. Please note that there are no public restrooms on site. Staring on May 9, 2026, honey farm shop hours will be Thursday through Sunday,10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
