(March 20, 2026) — The public is invited to a special historical presentation, Three Centuries and Counting at Thirty Mile Island: The Old Burial Yard, on April 12, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Haddam Firehouse in Higganum.

Local historian Dan MacNeil will lead an engaging exploration of Haddam’s Old Burial Yard at Thirty Mile Island, one of the community’s most historically significant sites. The program will highlight the burial ground’s role in the region’s early settlement, the stories of the people connected to it, and the recent research that has uncovered deeper insights into Haddam’s past.

This event offers a rare opportunity to learn more about a landmark that spans more than three centuries of local history, shedding light on how the early inhabitants of the area lived, worked, and shaped the town we know today.

Refreshments will be served. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated. This presentation is sponsored by The Old Burial Yard at Thirty Mile Island, an organization dedicated to preserving and interpreting this historically important site for future generations.
