(June 8, 2025) — Residents of Haddam will be happy to hear that friends Russ Pelletier of Rocky Hill and John Astarita of Wallingford have teamed up to re-open a longtime Higganum institution, Higgie’s. Many people are glad that the new owners have chosen to revert to the original name of the restaurant rather than the less desirable recent moniker of “Higgs.”
Russ and John plan to have the restaurant open from April or May to October, depending on the weather. All dining will be outside; there is no indoor option. As the photo above shows, there are several outdoor picnic tables with covered seating.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Payment can be by cash or credit card. Another important aspect of the business is the ability to order online for pickup.
