Haddam Transfer Station Passes Go On Sale June 2nd

Submitted by Bob Siegrist, Haddam Town Clerk

(May 1, 2025) — It’s almost that time of year again! The Town Clerk’s Office will start selling new Haddam Transfer Station Passes on Monday, June 2, 2025. Below are some new things you may need to know, as well as a few reminders:

Be sure to bring your Vehicle Registration and Driver’s License/Proof of Residency in order to obtain a Transfer Station Pass. This will help us expedite the process and save time.

To assure that only Haddam Residents use the Transfer Station, a current Haddam sticker must be displayed in order to use the facility. Stickers are good for the fiscal year (July 1st through June 30th) and may be purchased for a $100 fee. If you are 65 or older the fee is $50.00. These apply to vehicles of 10,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) or less.

Trucks or vehicles larger than 10,000 lbs. GVW and no more than 14,500 lbs. GVW will be allowed to purchase a pass for $150.00 (Seniors will be charged $75.00)

You may also purchase one Transfer Station Pass and get one at half price, but this applies to the same household only. Please note: there is a limit of two Transfer Station passes per residence, and the Senior Discount applies only to those who are 65 years and older.

Stickers must be affixed to the front windshield, no exceptions. Vehicles with loose or misplaced stickers will not be allowed at the Transfer Station.

A temporary, two-week pass is available for $40.00 with proof of residential ownership in Haddam. After March 1, 2026, the $100 price of a sticker will be reduced to $45.00 (or $25.00 for seniors 65 and older)

If you lose or misplace your sticker, you must show your receipt at the Town Clerk’s Office to receive a replacement sticker at no cost. If you have purchased a new vehicle or replaced the windshield, please bring in all or part of your Transfer Station Sticker.

Transfer Station Prohibited Commercial Use and Misuse Notice

In a continued effort to crack down on commercial use, if you are found or reported to be using your Transfer Station pass for any business, you will promptly lose access to the Transfer Station and will not be able to purchase a Transfer Station pass for one full year. Use of the Transfer Station is strictly for residents of Haddam.

In addition, if you are found to do the following, use of the Transfer Station will be revoked:

  1. Misrepresent your residential address
  2. Misrepresent losing a pass
  3. Place your pass on a different registered vehicle
  4. Fraudulently obtain a pass
  5. Use your pass for a business

A full list of information on the Transfer Station can be found at haddam.org.  Please click on the Transfer Station button.
