(March 10, 2025) — The Haddam Sustainability Committee will host a Repair Cafe on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the HVFC Firehouse, 439 Saybrook Road in Higganum.

A Repair Cafe brings together a group of volunteer expert “fixers” who tackle everything from knife sharpening and small sewing jobs to small appliance repair, fixing lamps, even violin and bow repairs. A list of the fixers who will be at the Higganum event appears below.

Visitors are asked to carry in their own item, and there is a limit of one item per person in order to cut down on waiting time. The work is done free of charge, but if new materials are needed to make the repair, there will be a cost.

NOTE: The fixers at this Repair Cafe are not liable for any loss that may result from advice or instructions concerning repairs, for the loss of items handed over for repair, for consequential loss, or for any other injury to persons or damage to property experienced as a result of involvement with the Repair Cafe. Fixers offer no guarantee for the repairs carried out and are not liable if items repaired turn out not to work properly at home.

Questions about the Repair Cafe may be emailed to haddamsustainabilitycommittee@gmail.com.
