(March 12, 2024) — Higganum resident Scott Kuchyt is celebrating his 45th year serving the Town of Haddam as a volunteer firefighter.
Scott joined the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company membership in March 1981 after serving two years with the HVFC Junior Division.
During his tenure, he has served as a lieutenant, captain, and third assistant chief. Scott served on the House Committee, Field Day Committee, Fire Prevention Committee, and as company secretary and mechanical engineer.
Scott’s brother, Jamie Kuchyt, has served with the company 43 years; his sister-in-law, Teresa Kuchyt, has served 31 years. In addition, Scott’s father, Martin Kuchyt; sons Mike and Kyle Kuchyt; uncles Robert Kuchyt and Rudolf Marica; and cousin Anthony Driscoll are all past members of HVFC.
Scott received his 45-years-of-service pin during the company’s monthly meeting on March 4, 2024. Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Scott Kuchyt on four and a half decades of service to the Town of Haddam!
