Friends,
I hope you are staying safe and healthy. Connecticut is now booking appointments for those seeking the COVID-19 vaccine who are over the age of 65, expanding the availability of access for the vaccines to a larger age group as the next step of the state’s phased vaccination process. Vaccine providers and the VAMS system are updated to allow individuals over the age of 65 to make appointments, though those appointments may not be until later in February with continued limited supply and access.
Anyone seeking to make an appointment online should CLICK HERE, call 877-918-2224 or, if they prefer, contact local hospital registration systems.
More Than 500,000 Doses Administered Statewide; 56 Percent of 75+ Vaccinated
As of Monday, February 8, Connecticut has administered 517,081 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 387,174 people, more than 10 percent of the state’s population, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 129,907 people have received their second dose, giving them increased protection against COVID-19. Connecticut retains its rank of fourth in the nation for vaccination compared to state population, with now 56 percent of individuals 75 years or older receiving their vaccinations. The state’s current objectives are to ensure seniors in cities with high social vulnerability receive shots and to prepare for the imminent expansion of vaccine dose availability to those 65 or older.
Snow Expected Tuesday, Lighter Than Recent Storms
Connecticut is expected to receive snow Tuesday, but snowfall will not reach amounts as high as seen during recent storms. Snowfall is expected between sunrise and the early evening overall, with most of the state slated to receive between 3 and 6 inches. Peak snowfall will be in the early afternoon, with the southern parts of the state likely receiving mixed snow and rain between 2 and 3 inches in total. The morning rush hour will not likely be impacted while afternoon snow may have a moderate impact on the evening rush hour.
