(March 1, 2026) — Winter has been chilly, but the fashion world will be heating up this summer at Spectrum Art Gallery’s July Fashion Camp, July 20, 2026 to July 24, 2026 (9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) for ages 10–14. Participants focus on sewing with professional seamstresses who teach campers how to read, pin, cut and sew a pattern. The first project is sketching, designing and sewing a re-fashion of a pair of jeans into a unique skirt. The second project is creating a garment from a commercial pattern and adding accessories to bring your vision to life.

Professional hair and makeup stylists prepare fashionistas for a photo shoot and fun fashion show. During the runway, participants model their creations for friends and family at week’s end! No experience is necessary. Whether new to sewing or already a budding designer, our instructors guide everyone every step of the way. A sewing material list is provided upon registration.

As one former camper described the program, “July Fashion Camp guided me from concept to the creation of my own garments. It was thrilling to see my ideas take shape—all in just one week!”

For those who would like extra preparation, join the Pre-Camp Workshop: Make Friends with Your Sewing Machine on Friday, July 10, 2026 (3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.) or Saturday, July 11, 2026 (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon). Participants supply their own machines for both the camp and the pre-camp workshops. Fashion Camp and the Sewing Machine Workshops are held at Spectrum Art Gallery, 61 Main Street in Centerbrook.
As space is limited, register early at www.spectrumartgallery.org or call (860) 767-0742 to find out more about fees.
