Programs and Events at Brainerd Memorial Library, March 2026

(February 28, 2026) — The following programs and events will take place at Brainerd Memorial Library during the month of February 2026. If you have questions regarding programs, please visit the library’s website – brainerdlibrary.org – or call 860-345-2204 during open hours. Brainerd Library’s weekly schedule is as follows: M 10-6PM, Tu 10-8PM, W 10-8PM, Th 10-8PM, F 10-6PM, Sat 10-3PM. You can find us at 920 Saybrook Road in Haddam. Hope to see you soon!

Announcements:

BML Art Wall Presents – Lisa Murno, Photographer: Local photographer Lisa Murno has been photographing for over 30 years using digital and 35 mm formats. She currently has been experimenting with post-photo processing and gets her inspiration from landscapes, hiking and studying flora and fauna. Patrons can view Lisa’s charming photographs through March. The BML Art Wall is found on the main floor of the library. Artists interested in showing work, contact: mlehmacher@brainerdlibrary.org.

Join Our Group Art Exhibition! – Are you a burgeoning artist with a piece you’d like to show in a group exhibition? BML is currently looking for artists to participate in our May group exhibition! The theme is “Thinking Outside the Box,” to be interpreted as each artist pleases. Interested? Contact: mlehmacher@brainerdlibrary.org

Adult Programs

Jigsaw Puzzle Club – Tuesday March 3 & 17 at 1PM: Join us for the new Jigsaw Puzzle Club. This is a drop-in event, no signup necessary. Work on a jigsaw puzzle provided by Brainerd Library, and bring a puzzle to swap with other puzzlers if you wish!

Makin’ A Mess with Jenny – Wednesday March 4 @ 6PM: Come celebrate Valentine’s Day and make a heart wreath out of yarn.

Culinary Club – Wednesday March 11 at 6:30PM: Join the culinary crew this month for a “green” potluck! Make something green (to be interpreted as you’d like) and come chow down!

Connecticut Cryptids – Wednesday March 11 at 6:30PM: Did you know Connecticut is jam-packed with cryptids? What is a cryptid? Come to our talk with Pat Scalisi and Valerie Ruby-Omen and find out!

French Conversation Club – Wednesday March 18 at 6:30PM: Do you speak un petit peu de francais and want to connect with other French speakers? Then join our first French Conversation Club! Francophones of all levels welcome, but basic French conversational skills are required. For teens and adults.

True Ghost Stories of Connecticut – Wednesday March 25 at 6:00PM: Ready for some spooky stories? Charles Rosenay!!! and Lori Salerno will scare us with Connecticut ghost stories and a paranormal examination of Brainerd Library.

Teen Programs

Teen Board Game Night – Tuesday March 3 at 5:30PM: Hang out, play board games new and old, or craft a D&D character! For grades 6-12.

Teen Advisory Board – Wednesday March 4 at 5:30PM: Plan YA events, discuss volunteering opportunities, and hang out! TAB counts toward school community service hours. Grades 6-12. This month come get some delicious and free pizza!

Teen Dungeons & Dragons – Tuesday Feb 10 & 24 at 5:30PM: Join a campaign and experience epic adventures! For new and old players alike.

Teen Movie Night – Tuesday Feb 17 at 5:30PM: Come hang and watch a fun movie. Teens’ choice!

Tween Switch Game Night – Wednesday March 25 at 5:30: Tween Game Night is a monthly event where we hang out and play Nintendo Switch games and occasionally some board games! Controllers will be provided, but participants can also bring their own controllers if they want. Grades 6-9.

Teen Sushi Making – March 31 at 5:30PM: Roll your own sushi! This event is for beginner and experienced sushi makers alike, and for anyone in grades 8-12. All materials will be provided, including veggie options. Participants are welcome to bring favorite ingredients as well.

Kids Programs

Preschool Storytime – Tuesdays at 10AM: Join us for our weekly story time filled with interactive storytelling fun!

Toddler Tunes – Thursdays at 10AM: A sing-a-long with live music and fun weekly themes.

Kids Dungeons & Dragons – Ages 7-10 Tuesday March 3 & 17 at 4:30PM, Ages 11-13 Tuesday March 10 & 24 at 4:30PM: Join us at the Brainerd House School of Magical Mysteries for a fun D&D adventure! Age groups will alternate every Tuesday. No experience necessary.

Kids Switch Game Night – Wednesday March 4 at 4:30PM: Elementary schoolers can join us for an hour of fun games for the Nintendo Switch. Controllers will be provided for this family-friendly gaming session, but participants can also bring their own controllers if they want. Possible games include Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Super Monkey Ball, and more!

Pokémon Club – Wednesday March 11 & 25 at 4:30PM: A club for kids who love Pokémon. Trivia & Prizes! Fat Pikachus! Bring your game and/or cards. Trading allowed with adult permission.

Kids Board Game Night – Wednesday March 18 @ 4:30PM: Elementary age kids can join us for an hour of fun and family-friendly board games, from classics like Connect Four to newer games just waiting to become your family’s next favorite.

Dice Lab – Friday March 27 at 4:30PM: Learn to craft dice and miniatures with a 3-D printer, a Cricut & more!
