RSD 17 Hosts Community Input Meeting on High School Renovation

Submitted by Regional School District 17

(January 15, 2026) — Improving Haddam-Killingworth High School remains a top priority for the RSD17 Board of Education, with a focus on safety, accessibility, and modern learning spaces. The Feasibility Study Team (FST) has been working with QA+M Architecture and Owner’s Representative, Arcadis on a renovation-based approach that preserves key facilities such as the field house, pool, auditorium, and Technical Education spaces. This proposed plan will be shared with the community for input.

We encourage all community members to attend the Community Input Meeting on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the HKHS Auditorium.

HKHS building tours will be offered before the Input Meeting. Tours begin at 12:00 Noon and will start in the Auditorium Lobby.

The High School is offering childcare from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. for children ages 4-8 years old. Childcare will be offered in the Old Middle School Gym. A form for childcare will be distributed in the coming days for those families who are interested.

This meeting is an important opportunity to learn about the proposal, ask questions, and share feedback before the Board moves forward.
