Drive-In Movie Night – Tuesday, December 2nd, 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Decorate a cardboard box with paper plate wheels and some fancy designs, then bring your “car” to the children’s room for a “drive-in” movie! Sit in your car, enjoy a bag of Smartfood popcorn, and enjoy a storybook film. Please contact the library or visit the Calendar on our website for this month’s title, and please register to reserve your “parking space” (floor seating is available, too).

Adult Movie Night – Wednesday, December 3rd, 6:00 p.m.-7:45 p.m. Join us for a free movie viewing! We meet in the adult reading area after the library closes at 6:00. Feel free to bring your own snacks and (covered, non-alcoholic) drinks. Please contact the library or visit the Calendar on our website for this month’s title, and be sure to register to reserve your seat.

Writers Writing – Fridays, December 5th and 19th, 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Writers Writing is an ongoing program for adults that explores different genres of writing. We start with free writes, followed by revision assignments, with weekly opportunities to share work with others. Note: sharing is not required – shyness and uncertainty are always welcome. This is a very popular program, so please register in advance

Tweens Writing – Friday, December 5th, 4:00 p.m.-5:15 p.m. Here’s a chance for tweens (ages 9-12) to write and share their stories with others! We will explore different kinds of narratives, including horror, fantasy, family stories, essays, and research. Sessions start with free writes, followed by a chance to share your story with the group. Note: sharing is not required; only if you’re ready. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

Holiday Collage for Adults with Special Needs – Saturday, December 6th, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This is a creative event for adult individuals with special needs, who want to engage in an art project. We will use Christmas cards, magazines, stickers, and other holiday items to design a Christmas collage. All art supplies will be provided, and there is no charge to attend. For ages 18-100. The Killingworth Library is wheelchair accessible, but you must have your own transportation. Space is limited, so please register in advance. If you have any questions about this program, please contact the library.

Art for All: Winter Wishes – Monday, December 8th, 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Please join us as we reminisce over the art and other happenings of this past year. Make resolutions or wishes for 2026, and decorate painted rocks for gifts or special holiday decorations. Supplies for collages will also be provided. Snacks, too! Space and supplies are limited, so please register in advance.

LEGO STEM Club – Tuesday, December 9th, 5:45 p.m.-6:45 p.m. Future engineers! Learn to use the STEM steps to success, as you solve a problem, plan and create a design, and then test your project. This month’s project is a marble maze. It’s even more fun when you collaborate with another engineer. Suitable for elementary Grades 1 through 4. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

Bath Bomb Crafting Night – Wednesday, December 10th, 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Join us for a night of bath bomb crafting, back by popular demand. With some new, cozy, wintry scents like snickerdoodle and apple butter, these are sure to be perfect stocking stuffers. We will provide all the supplies you need, plus packaging. We have a wide variety of colors and fragrances, so there are plenty of opportunity to get creative. This program is free, but please register to save your seat; supplies are limited.

Pajama Storytime – Thursday, December 11th, 6:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Come dressed in your PJ’s, bring your favorite stuffed animal and blanket, and get ready to cuddle! Mrs. Fig will share seasonal stories, engaging readers with sound effects, movement, and puppets. Family members of all ages are welcome! Please register in advance, so we know how many friends to expect.

Decorate a 3D Tree – Friday, December 12th, 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Get into the holiday spirit, as we decorate 3D trees! Approximately five inches high, painted silver or green, this craft is designed for children ages 5 and older. All supplies will be provided. Space and supplies are limited, so please register in advance.

Making the Most of Your Medicare – Friday, December 12th, 4:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. A Supervising Attorney with the Center for Medicare Advocacy—a non-profit law organization based in Connecticut that advocates for a stronger Medicare program—will walk attendees through the rights people have as Medicare beneficiaries, including the right to choose between different Medicare plans, to appeal coverage denials, and to be screened for cost assistance programs. Too often people find themselves wondering why Medicare isn’t covering what they think it should. Attendees should leave the presentation with empowering information and a list of helpful contacts. This presentation will last about twenty minutes, with time for questions afterward. Please register to reserve your seat.

American Girl Doll Club – Tuesday, December 16th, 5:45 p.m.-6:45 p.m. Join us with your favorite doll (it doesn’t have to be an American Girl doll) and make new friends! Enjoy a story or discussion, activities, and a craft from a different history time period. This month, we will focus on Melody Ellison and life in 1954. Suitable for elementary Grades 1 through 4. Space is limited, so please register in advance.
