(September 27, 2025) —New laws go into effect several times a year in Connecticut, and with October 1, 2025 quickly approaching, residents will see significant changes to several state statutes.
As of that date, hunting on private land will be permitted on Sundays; reckless driving will bring higher penalties including increased fines and the possibility of jail time for driving faster than 100 miles per hour; and new changes to towing regulations will require written authorization before a vehicle can be towed from a private lot and owner access to a vehicle’s contents after it’s towed.
Other new laws include expansions of the state’s firefighter cancer relief program to accommodate more individuals and enhanced review of health carriers’ practices regarding mental health and substance use disorder benefit reporting requirements.
