(September 5, 2025) — Little Missy is new to Protectors of Animals and is only seven months old. She is a Shih-Tzu/Yorkshire Terrier Mix and small. The poor little girl came to this rescue because she had not been gaining weight or doing well over several months in the home she was in.
After some medical tests, though, it turned out that she was anemic. Missy is doing great in her foster home now, gaining weight and thriving. There are a few more tests in progress, but overall, she is gaining weight very quickly and getting some pop back into her. The veterinarian feels that she could have been a malnutrition case.

Missy is an active little thing and the most lovable girl you could meet. Once her weight stabilizes, she will receive her first puppy vaccinations.
Missy has never been socialized so she is shy when meeting other dogs. Protectors of Animals is looking to have her as an only pet in the house at this time. With slow introductions to other dogs with meet-and-greets, maybe some play time, she will come out of her shell and become the queen with fur friends. She would do well with children ten years old or older who will show her respect and love (foster-tested and approved!).
