(August 20, 2025) — Lilly, Killingworth’s newly crowned Top Dog, is an unassuming twelve-year old black Lab mix who was rescued from Louisiana at one year old by Labs For Rescue and the Keavy family. Lilly is honored to be the eldest member and only girl in her “pack,” taking charge of her three rescued brothers (Dewey the golden retriever, Moose the silver Lab, and Louie the Frenchie) like a born leader.

Lilly loves being outdoors and, if given her choice, she would spend every minute sunbathing and patrolling in her yard. She also fearlessly guards her family’s property, as well as that of the neighboring church, from potentially serious security threats such as deer, turkey and FedEx! Lilly also loves riding in the car, especially if she’s getting her favorite Three Dog Bakery treats or visiting her beloved pet sitter. Lilly, we are so very proud that you are the Killingworth’s Top Dog!

Our #2 Top Dog is just the coolest little guy imaginable! Paulie, a robust two-year old Chihuahua, nonchalantly strutted into Town Hall wearing a fruit-themed Hawaiian shirt looking as though he just got off a cruise ship. Paulie’s mom wanted a Chihuahua when a friend told her about a six-month old puppy looking for a home. She took one look at him with heart-shaped brown spots covering his back and it was love at first sight! But please don’t let his size fool you. Paulie takes his job as his mom’s protector very seriously by guarding a three-foot perimeter around her at all times. And in return, she clearly adores showering him with “good boy” compliments and emphatically stating “He was MEANT for me!” Paulie loves his best friend Cody the Papillon, retrieving balls, going for walks, and riding in the car, especially to family events. But most of all he loves being held… by his mom, of course!

Last, but by no means least, is Kai, who now proudly wears Killingworth’s #3 dog tag. Kai is a stunning eight-year old Shetland Sheepdog with a sweet temperament and a luxuriously thick coat that would make any groomer’s dreams come true! While he appears regal, he also has quite a sense of humor. He actually chatted with us the entire time he was at Town Hall answering every question asked. And when his brother Leo, another striking Sheltie, plays fetch in the yard, Kai sits waiting for the perfect time… to… speed out, intercept the Frisbee and whisk it away as quickly as he can! You see, he loves to be chased and will do whatever he can to make that happen. He also enjoys a good chase with his cat Sophie, doing the chasing but never actually catching her. Kai’s mom calls him vocal and quirky, but we say he’s just perfect!
