(February 9, 2025) — The Connecticut Department of Transportation advises the following construction activities will take place at the Haddam/East Haddam Swing Bridge (Route 82) during the upcoming week of February 9, 2025:
Overnight Bridge Closures
- There will be no overnight closures this week. The contractor has scheduled the next overnight bridge closures for February 17, 2025 and February 18, 2025. The bridge will close at 7:00 p.m. each of those nights and reopen by 6:00 a.m. the next morning.
Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances could impact these scheduled closures, any changes will be communicated.
Daytime Lane Closures
- Single lane closures on Route 82 will occur Monday, February 10, 2025 through Friday, February 14, 2025 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. within the project limits. Traffic flaggers will coordinate the alternating traffic sequence.
- Both lanes will be reopened and operational during peak traffic hours.
Marine Advisory
Boaters are advised that the Swing Bridge will resume openings for tall recreational vessels on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Mariners are advised that the contractor’s suspended scaffold has been removed from spans 3 and 4. The contractor still has scaffolding hung in span 2.
The tide clearance board is recommended as the best reference for gauging clearance at time of passage. The board is located on the bulkhead at Goodspeed, and has been set to indicate the vertical clearance to the contractor’s suspended scaffold.
