Essex Savings Bank Announces Two Executive Promotions

Submitted by Lucas Fumiatti

(January 8, 2025) — Essex Savings Bank has announced the promotions of Lisa Berube to Vice President, Branch Administrator, and Teresa Shamas as the new Chester Branch Manager.

Ms. Berube has been in banking since the 1990s. She joined Essex Savings Bank in 2012 as a Residential Loan Officer and Chester Branch Manager, and has developed extensive know-how in banking and loans throughout her career.

In 2019, she received the Women of FIRE award, an annual recognition of outstanding women in the local FIRE (Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate) sector. Her selection was no doubt influenced by her strong support of her staff and the community. She is a vocal advocate of local business and holds several positions in charitable organizations, including chairman of the board for the
Deep River Housing Authority, treasurer for the Deep River-Chester Lions Club and Middlesex Salvation Army, and as a member of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce.

In 2003, Ms. Shamas was hired as a part-time teller and advanced through several roles to Assistant Branch Manager in 2021.

She has trained many employees throughout the  years, and her strong banking knowledge complements the exceptional patience and care she provides to customers. In the community, she has volunteered for many years with Warm the Children, an organization that provides winter clothes to children in need.

Both women are well-qualified for their new positions. President and CEO Diane Arnold
comments, “Ms. Berube and Ms. Shamas have abundantly demonstrated their value to our organization and our community. There is no shortage of talent between the two of them. We are proud to recognize their achievements with these promotions.”
