Football 2024: HKHS Shuts Out MSW Co-Op, 43-0

By Barth Keck

(October 13, 2024) Six different players scored touchdowns for the Cougars (4-1) as Haddam-Killingworth High School defeated the co-op of Morgan-Old Saybrook-Westbrook (0-5) on October 10, 2024, by a score of 43-0.

HKHS rolled up more than 400 yards of total offense, led by Gunnar Howes, who scored a touchdown and carried the ball eight times for 75 yards in the first half alone. Bryce LaCoss scored a rushing touchdown and threw touchdown passes to three different receivers.

Jacob Lamarre scored the other rushing touchdown for the Cougars, while Joseph Slane, Jamien Evans and Ryan Rafferty were the receivers of LaCoss’s touchdown passes. Rafferty added an interception for the Cougars.
“Overall, I’m pleased with the team’s performance tonight,” said HKHS Head Coach Tyler Wilcox. “We played the way we’re capable of playing. We did have a few hiccups in the second half, but we have a bye week now to clean up the issues as we prepare for a good Coginchaug team in two weeks.”
The game against Coginchaug will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 in Durham.
