Cross Country 2024: HKHS Undefeated at Shoreline Large School Meet

(September 26, 2024) –On September 24, 2024, the Haddam Killingworth High School Boys and Girls cross country teams competed in their only league meet of the season as they traveled to Cromwell High School to compete in the Shoreline Large School League meet against Valley Regional, Morgan, North Branford, East Hampton and Cromwell.

Both teams won the large school league meet and went undefeated in the afternoon to have their dual meet record at 5-0 in the season.  The  H-K boys are now 121-0 in dual meets dating back to 2014 as they defeated Morgan by a score of 15-50, beat Cromwell 15-46, defeated North Branford 15-50, beat Valley 15-50 and defeated East Hampton 21-38.  H-K Boys ran as a pack at the front of the race over the 3.1 mile course and were led by Senior co-captain Jack Cozean, Juniors Daniel McCourt and Alex Fredericksen and Sophomore Evan Berardino who crossed the line together in a time of 17:11  to placed 2nd-5th.  Next to finish were Juniors Anthony Fredericksen and Cash Smigel who ran 17:19 to place 7th and 8th.

The Girls team also went up against the same five league teams and also went 5-0 on the afternoon and are now 101-2 in dual meets since 2015. The Cougars defeated Morgan 15-50, beat Cromwell 15-50 , defeated Valley 15-48, beat East Hampton 25-33 and beat North Branford 15-47. Also running as a pack over the 5,000 meter course the girls were led by Sophomore Emi Schweitzer, who placed 4th in a time of 21:49.  Finishing as a pack in the same time in places 5th-9th were Senior co-captain Keira Sehl-Albert, Junior Grace Mitchell, Sophomore Charlotte Behnke and Juniors Julia Downing and Delaney Aronson.   

 
The cross country team will next be in action on Saturday September 28, 2024 as they travel to Montgomery, New York to compete in the New York Night-Time Showcase.
