Submitted by Robbie Marshall, Brainerd Memorial Library

(September 24, 2024) — Brainerd Memorial Library of Haddam and the Essex Library will jointly sponsor a forum for State Senate and State House candidates in our shared districts on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Valley Regional High School Auditorium, 256 Kelsey Hill Rd in Deep River.

Participating candidates for the District 36 House seat are Renee LaMark Muir (D) and Kathryn Russell (R), and for the District 33 Senate seat are incumbent Senator Norm Needleman (D) and Jeff Duigou (R). Moderators will be Essex Library Director Ann Thompson and Brainerd Library Director Andrew Maloney.

Questions for the candidates can be sent by U.S. Mail or dropped off at either the Essex Library (33 West Ave, Essex, CT, 06426) or Brainerd Library (920 Saybrook Road, Haddam, CT 06438) or emailed to Ann Thompson, athompson@essexlib.org, or Andrew Maloney, amaloney@brainerdlibrary.org. Please submit questions for Representative and Senator candidates separately.

To be considered for inclusion, questions must be relevant to state issues, particularly at the district level, and not constructed in a way as to favor a particular candidate.

Questions must be received by October 16, 2024.
