Obituary: James Lindsay Jamieson

Submitted by LaQueta Jamieson

James Lindsay Jamieson, 90, of Killingworth, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Artis Senior Living of Branford, after almost two years of residency. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Dorothy (Young) and Duncan Jamieson.
James was raised in Queens, New York, and later resided in other towns in New York State, before he moved to Killingworth in 1980.

He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Clarkson University in business administration and electrical engineering. James retired from Prime Technology in 2020, after a 60-year career.

James enjoyed umpiring softball games, being a goal judge for Yale hockey, riding motorcycles, collecting antique cars, and card games like cribbage and set back. Though he suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia near the end of his life, he never ceased in his desire to make friends, actively making new connections through the end of his life.

James is survived by his wife,  LaQueta Jamieson, of Killingworth; Duncan Jamieson, his brother, of Ashland, Ohio; Duncan Scott Jamieson, his son, of Larchmont, New York; Francis Jamieson, his son, of Mamaroneck, New York; Douglas Jamieson, his son, of Stamford; Lindsay Jamieson, his daughter, of Middletown; and Christopher Jamieson, his son, of Killingworth; in addition, his grandchildren: Kelly, Jack, Andrew, Bridget and Phoebe Jamieson, and Walker and Tessa Veale. He was predeceased by his parents; brother David Jamieson; and son James Whitman Jamieson.

Thank you to the doctors, administrators, nurses, and staff at Artis Senior Living in Branford for taking excellent care of James, through the end of his life. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to James’s friends and colleagues, many of whom affectionally called him “Mr. J” or “Jim.”
