Spectrum Gallery Programs and Events: September 2024

(August 31, 2024) — The following programs and events will be presented during the month of September 2024 at Spectrum Art Gallery, 61 Main Street in Centerbrook.

Spectrum Gallery Exhibit: Abundant Autumn

At Spectrum’s newest exhibit, Abundant Autumn, discover established and emerging artists who present new paintings, sculpture, mixed media, and photography that explore the season of harvest, change and preparing for the coming cold. Open Reception, Friday, September 27, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Enjoy fine art, crafts, wine, and refreshments that evening and during the Open House Weekend, Saturday, September 28, 2024 (1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.), and Sunday, September 29, 2024 (1:00 p.m-5:00 p.m.). The six-week exhibit runs through November 9, 2024. Artisans Store offers pottery, glass, fiber, home décor, jewelry, and accessories.

Save the Date! Madison Green Autumn Arts Festival

Established and emerging artists from Connecticut and throughout the region present new work on the Madison Town Green, on Saturday, October 12, 2024 (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.); Sunday October 13, 2024 (Noon-5:00 p.m.); Rain Date Monday October 14, 2024 (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). Boston Post Road/Route 1 and Copse Road). Painters, photographers, mixed media artists, fine artisans will all be featured.

Many Festival artists also present at Spectrum Art Gallery including at the first exhibit of the fall, Abundant Autumn, detailed above. The Gallery is open throughout the Festival weekend.

Call for Artists! Madison Green Autumn Arts Festival

There is still room for artists to be part of the Annual Autumn Arts Festival on the Madison Town Green, detailed above. Fine artisans also may submit work for consideration for sale in the Store at Spectrum Gallery, Email materials to Barbara@spectrumartgallery.org. Festival volunteer opportunities available. Call for Artists! Holiday Gallery Show: “Let There Be Love”

Spectrum Gallery seeks representational and abstract art in all mediums (including photography) for the Holiday Show: Let There Be Love. As we close out 2024, the world trembles with wars, racism, health, and climate change catastrophes. Yet, we still hope that compassion, empathy, and love exist. Exhibit runs November 22, 2024 through January 11, 2025 with artwork being received from November 10, 2024 to November 14, 2024. Spectrum’s Artisans Store also seeks fine crafts in wood, ceramic, pottery, glass, paper, fabric, jewelry design and more. The Gallery also seeks submissions of handmade ornaments for its six-foot Holiday Tree.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed to help at gallery show installations and receptions, outdoor arts festivals, and other events and programming throughout the year. No experience necessary. Teens earn community service credit. The next major event is the Autumn Arts Festival in Madison in October, as mentioned above. Email artscenterkillingworth@gmail.com.
