Haddam Town Clerk Now Accepting Applications for Absentee Ballots

Submitted by Bob Siegrist, Haddam Town Clerk

(August 28, 2024) — With the 2024 Presidential Election around the corner, I am reminding you that absentee ballot applications are now available. There are several ways to apply for an absentee ballot.

Connecticut Law allows you to receive an absentee ballot if you cannot appear at your assigned polling place on Election Day because of any of these reasons:

My active service in the Armed Forces of the United States

My absence from my town of residence

Sickness

My religious tenets forbid secular activity on the day of the election

My duties as a primary, election or referendum official at a polling place other than my own during all of the hours of voting

Physical disability

Applications may be submitted in person at the Town Clerk’s Office, in the Election Drop Box located outside the Town Office Building (which is under video surveillance) or they may be mailed to the Town Clerk’s Office at 30 Field Park Drive, Haddam, Connecticut, 06438.

Once my office receives your application, we are able to send you the ballot. In order for you to receive your ballot on time, applications should be submitted as soon as possible to avoid receiving a late ballot.

For your convenience, and expediting the processing of applications, you also can apply online with the State of Connecticut’s Online Portal at the following link:

Military and Overseas voters can request an absentee ballot by using this link:

For anyone who isn’t sure of their voter status, or isn’t yet registered to vote (especially those who are away at college) follow this link to get up-to-date:

Per State Law, Absentee Ballots will be mailed starting October 4, 2024. Completed ballots MUST be received by 8:00 p.m. at the Town Clerk’s Office on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The Town Clerk is responsible for supervising and distributing these ballots. If you have any questions, please contact my office at (860) 345-8531 ext. 212 or 211.

Working together, we can ensure a safe, effective and efficient election cycle. Absence or inability to vote in person does not mean that you must forfeit your right to vote!
