(August 10, 2024) — The August primary will help determine the final slate of candidates running for the U.S. Senate, Congress and the Connecticut General Assembly during the General Election in November.
The biggest contest is on the Republican side, where Beacon Falls First Selectman Gerry Smith and Manchester businessman Matthew Corey are competing to see who will take on Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Murphy.
Meanwhile, Murphy and all five House Democrats from Connecticut avoided a primary challenge this year, and will continue on to the November ballot.
