Events at Brainerd Memorial Library, August 2024

Submitted by Brainerd Memorial Library

(August 2, 2024) — The Upper Level is closed for renovation, but we’re still open! Please use the lower entrance. All materials should be returned in the Community Room or parking lot book drop.

Big changes are coming to BML! Our interior renovation began upstairs. The lower level Community Room provides Adult Services space with computers, copier, checkout and a selection of books and DVDs. Staff will order any materials you want from other libraries, as we do now. The Children’s Room will not be affected by the first phase.

Summer Gardening Basket Raffle: The Friends of Brainerd Library have donated a wonderful basket with gardening tools, gloves, a watering can, seeds and more. Stop in to enter. The Raffle supports library programming. The drawing will be this month.

BML Community Quilt: This is an ongoing project culminating in October. We intend to stitch all the pieces you color together, to fabricate one beautiful quilt to display. If you have a quilt piece, don’t forget to return it when it’s finished. Call or email Jenny at jlaw@brainerdlibrary.orgfor questions.

Zentangle and Untangle: Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Come to Brainerd to Zentangle and Untangle. We all need time to relax! Drop by and mesmerize with markers and colored pencils.

BML’s Culinary Club-Dinner and a Movie: Friday, August 9, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. We will be going on “The Hundred Foot Journey.” Join us at a member’s house as we watch the movie and sample dishes that are either influenced by Indian or French cuisine. Address will be provided after you sign up at brainerdlibrary.org. Please add the dish that you will be making to the registration sign-up. A requirement of the club is to bring a dish.

Crafting Connections/Partner Painting: Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. Attend the session in pairs: Mom, sister, aunt, dad, husband, brother, friend and try the challenge of painting your partner. We’ll provide the canvases and paints. You provide the talent. We will reveal our masterpieces to each other at the end. No peeking! Please register yourself and your partner at brainerdlibrary.org

End of Children’s Summer Reading Celebration: Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Kids of all ages can compete in our outdoor Pokémon Gym Badge Challenge. Earn Gym Badges by completing different fun tasks. You might even earn a few extra surprises! Ice cream will be served from Noon to 2:00 p.m.
