HVFC Responds to Saybrook Road Head-On Crash

(July 31, 2024) — At 9:00 p.m. on July 29, 2024, the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a two-car, head-on motor vehicle accident on Saybrook Road near Rutty Ferry Road in Haddam. One vehicle had caught fire and a Good Samaritan extinguished the fire before fire crews arrived.

The operators of both vehicles self-extricated following the crash.

The operator of one vehicle was transported to Hartford Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc. with serious injuries. The operator of the other vehicle refused additional medical treatment.

Crews closed both lanes of traffic on Saybrook Road for two hours.

LIFE STAR was requested, but was not flying.

Connecticut State Police are investigating.
