Haddam Senior Picnic a Great Success

Submitted by Haddam Committee on Aging

(July 7, 2024) — After a week of blistering heat, the weather changed to a lovely summer day for the Haddam Senior Picnic, which was held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at St. Peter Church Hall in Higganum.  Seniors began to arrive at about 11:30 a.m. and were greeted by Committee on Aging members.  The tables had been decorated with red and white checked tablecloths, which set the picnic mood.

The seniors were treated to traditional fare of hot dogs, hamburgers and summer salads.  The caterer, Cyr BBQ, was back for a second year.  Jon Condie, back by popular request, returned to play music as the seniors ate.

A total of eighty-seven seniors, including a 102-year-old from Commonwealth Senior Living, were in attendance. It was great to see new faces in the group. A total of $289.00 was raised and donated to the Haddam Emergency Fuel Bank.

Hope to see you in 2025!!

The Town of Haddam funds the cost of the picnic and the Committee on Aging members organize and host the event.
