Submitted by Sara Mendillo
(March 10, 2024) — The Connecticut Department of Transportation advises the following construction activities at the Haddam/East Haddam Swing Bridge (Route 82) for the upcoming week of March 10, 2024:

  • No 63-hour bridge closure this week.
Overnight Bridge Closures
There will be overnight bridge closures as follows:
  • Sunday night (3/10) into Monday morning (3/11) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Monday night (3/11) into Tuesday morning (3/12) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday night (3/12) into Wednesday morning (3/13) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday night (3/13) into Thursday morning (3/14) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

  • Friday night (3/15) into Saturday morning (3/16) – 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Extended Lane Closure

  • A section of travel lane on the bridge has been removed from service so the contractor can continue with  rehabilitation work. This will limit the bridge to one operational lane for motorists to proceed through the area. Temporary traffic signals regulate the alternating traffic flow on the bridge. This extended lane closure will be in place until March 31, 2024. Motorists should expect delays when crossing the bridge during this period.

Marine Advisory

  • The swing span is currently not opening to accommodate marine traffic passage. Scheduled openings will resume on April 1, 2024.
