Submitted by Brainerd Memorial Library

(March 2, 2024) — New books have arrived at Brainerd Memorial Library in Haddam.  Come in, browse the shelves and take a look at some of these featured books:

Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands, Book 2 by Heather Fawcett

This book follows Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries (which we also have on our shelves). In this second installment, Emily sets out to map the faeries and creatures of the Otherlands while dealing with the predicaments created by her suitor and colleague, Bambleby, an exiled faerie king.

House of Flame and Shadow by the hugely popular YA and adult novelist Sarah J. Maas.

This is book #3 in the Crescent City series.  Characters Bryce and Hunt experience the twists and turns of a classic Maas page-turner.  By the end of the book, the existence of their universe lies upon their shoulders.

The Road from Belhaven by Margot Livesey

A young Scottish girl discovers she can see into the future.  However, it is a selective gift that does not always help her foretell the future, nor can she change it. She must learn to reconcile this gift with how she will live her life.

Murder Crossed Her Mind by Stephen Spotswood

In 1947 New York City a detective and her assistant race to find an elderly woman who has gone missing and knows too much.  Was the woman taken because of secrets she knows from her work at a law firm or due to her past work for the FBI? Too many people want to find the woman and the detectives must scramble to find her first.
